Aluminum oxide is an excellent abrasive used mainly in sandblasting glass surfaces for a light, even appearance on the surface before fire polishing or acid etching.

A longer-lasting abrasive with a slower cut-rate than silicon carbide, aluminum oxide is best for surface prep over carving.
